The World Cup in Qatar occupied the attention of the Yemenis, because of its opportunity to enjoy watching the most prominent global event, in a country that was classified among the worst places in the world to live in it as a result of the deterioration of economic and living conditions due to the persistence of the war for more than seven years.

Despite Yemen's lack of participation in many international events and forums, the presence of the Yemeni heritage this time was noted during the largest event in the World Cup Qatar 2022, which may restore the popularity of the inherited Yemeni art and folklore through the participation of the Yemeni young man Mulataf Al -Humaidi, who attracted the audience from all over the world in this World Cup, because of his active role in introducing a part of the Yemeni folklore.

Over the years of the war in Yemen, art and heritage had a prominent role in embodying the spirit of national unity despite the continuous divisions for years, as many Yemeni artists in many lyrical forums in which they participate raise the chants of Yemen, calling for a unified homeland that can accommodate everyone.

In the context, the well -known sports commentator on the channels of " beIN SPORTS", the exclusive broadcaster of the World Cup, Hassan Al -Aidaroos, says in a special statement to "Khuyut": "Art, as sports, has a very effective role in this aspect, as it is close to feelings and touches the depth of the hearts, as it is a soft, effective force that moves and liberates the hearts that were caught by the ruggedness and the thirst of violence and war. There is a lot of evidence and over the centuries, in which the art through various creators has played this unique role.

Access to the world

For decades, the Yemenis remained adhering to their cultural and artistic heritage, the most prominent of which is "Al Bara", the most popular folkloric dance and the most present in the popular and national occasions in the country, to reach the world, as it is present in the World Cup 2022 for the first time in the history of Yemeni art and heritage.

The popular artist, Mulataf Humaidi, a representative of the Yemeni heritage in the World Cup Qatar 2022, is on a date with igniting the stadiums of the world championship that are held for the first time in the Middle East through "Al -Bara" and its authentic Yemeni rhythms, Bara is one of the most famous dances by which the country was known for decades.

Humaidi says, in a special statement to "Khuyut", that Al -Bara is a popular tradition inherited by generations in Yemen over time, pointing to his great presence in weddings, on national occasions, and in graduation parties in universities, festivals and other events.

Artist Humaidi was chosen within the League of Arab teams participating in the World Cup finals that started in Qatar on the twentieth of last November, with the participation of four Arab teams, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Morocco.

Humaidi's participation in such universal event pleased the hearts of Yemenis who interacted with him in a remarkable way on social media, and in the local media, considering this as an honor of the Yemeni heritage and the ancient Yemeni civilization that suffers from successive neglect and marginalization by the various authorities, in a country that has been ravaged by the war for years.

Qatar documented the most of Yemeni arts in terms of moral rights as the poem and melodies, through the Voice of the Gulf Radio, and invited many young artists from Yemen, such as the artist: Ahmed Al -Hubaishi, Salah Al -Akhfash, Bashir Al -Maabri, Sharaf Al -Qaedi, Bassam Enaba, Badr Al -Malaihi, Osama Mahboub, and many others, in order to record and document Yemeni heritage songs and establish property rights for their melodists and poets.

The athletic journalist (Dhul Al -Noureen), Al Harbi, asserts that watching a popular artist resonated with a world cup championship that is the most followed and seen in history, is a special thing, because art expresses a sublime message to all peoples. So the wide admiration of the Yemeni folklore drummer, "Mulataf" Humaidi "is an appreciation and honor for his popular art, which expresses an ancient historical identity of Yemen.

He stated to Khuyut that "art is the language of all nations, and through art, we can make a conscious and educated generation, who loves life and seeks peace, and makes a new reality. Therefore, art can unite peoples despite their border separation, spread peace, and boost our feelings of love towards life notwithstanding its cruelty."

Al -Hamidi rhythms

While the diversity of Yemeni heritage may impose a sense of regional affiliation, the feelings of national unity are embodied in the hearts of all Yemenis when watching the heritage as a representative of Yemen in the largest global event, as expressed by the Yemeni street.

Malik Al -Salafi, a follower and a sports fan of Sana'a, says in this regard: “The Yemeni heritage draws its presence in the World Cup 2022 in Qatar in a beautiful way that reflects the ancient civilization and beautiful Yemeni art with the participation of the young Yemeni artist Mulataf Humaidi, by introducing the Yemeni popular rhythms to the stadiums of the World Cup 2022”

Al -Salafi adds to "Khuyut" that: "It is true that Yemen has not accomplished any achievements in World Cup, but the artist Mulataf was able to communicate the beautiful Yemeni art through the popular rhythm (Bara) to the whole world, and Yemen was well represented through Mulataf beautiful rhythms from the Qatari stadiums."

For its part, the journalist, Ryam Al -Akhali, believes that the civilizational and artistic heritage of the country, and its access to the World Cup is one of the most important motives behind the unification of people's hearts and the embodiment of belonging to the homeland, in spite of the difficult situations imposed by the ongoing conflict in the country.

In her interview with "Khuyut", Al -Akhali believes that "watching heritage shows for Yemen in the World Cup and a global sporting event like the World Cup, is a matter of pride for all Yemenis of our rich art and heritage."

The Yemeni artist and resident in Qatar, Nasser Al -Riyashi, told "Khuyut", saying: "Mulataf was able to attract large crowds of all nationalities, everyone dances to his rhythms, everyone applauds and screams with enthusiasm after his finishes and asks him to perform it again. Here everybody only enjoys, no one looks at his shape, or ask about his history, and no one is interested in any country you are from, everyone here understands you and appreciates what you perform without the need for translation. "

He adds: "Mulataf was received with a warm and respectful, and he was called an artist, and the world sees it as a creative performer with a beautiful talent. He could represent the authentic Yemeni heritage that we boast it over time.

Support for Yemeni art

Qatar documented the most of Yemeni arts in terms of moral rights as the poem and melodies, through the Voice of the Gulf Radio, and invited many young artists from Yemen, such as the artist: Ahmed Al -Hubaishi, Salah Al -Akhfash, Bashir Al -Maabri, Sharaf Al -Qaedi, Bassam Enaba, Badr Al -Malaihi, Osama Mahboub, and many others, in order to record and document Yemeni heritage songs and establish property rights for their melodists and poets.

The artist Al -Riyashi emphasized that one of the main reasons behind the participation of two Yemeni artists in the World Cup 2022 in Qatar is the support and continuous encouragement of the State of Qatar for Yemeni art and heritage, noting that the role of art is very important especially in such distinguished event, as it brings together the world, and art is a language that everyone understands.

For his part, sports commentator Hassan Al -Aidarous praised the great role of Qatar in supporting Yemeni art, noting that the World Cup in Qatar is a championship for all Arabs, and it is a theater of all Arab creations from the ocean of the Gulf, to be highlighted for the whole world.

Al -Aidarous concluded: "The Yemeni folklore is an essential pillar in Arab art in general, and the art of Bara is one of these rich arts in Yemen with its diversity in various areas of the country. In fact, it was a priceless opportunity to highlight this art and export it to our Arab brothers and the whole world."
